Have you ever bought someone a gift? Yeah I know that’s a bit of a silly question. Let’s try another one. Have you ever purchased a gift for someone, something you thought they would really value only to discover it wasn’t something they wanted?
It’s easy for us as business owners to sometimes get caught up thinking we know what’s best for our clients. To think we know what they want and need. It can be hard to be objective.
If we really want to help our clients we have to put our perspective aside at times. We have to adopt as much as possible the perspective of our clients. It isn’t easy but that shouldn’t stop us from trying.
Have you taken on the perspective of your client lately? With your clients perspective in mind have you visited your website, listened to your answering machine, walked into your office, read your contract or read your marketing material trying to experience how your clients might feel?
If you haven’t it might be a very revealing exercise. You should give it a try today.
