The Project

We work with WordPress because we feel like it offers the most flexibility and development options for our clients. We’ve personally built over 800 websites, 400+ of which have been in WordPress. We’ve chosen WordPress exclusively because it is a great content management system which allows for basically anything a small to large-sized business needs. It’s also used by 59.7+% of all the websites in the world, which makes it the largest framework in the world–excellent for stability and security!

It depends!

Generally, we schedule websites to be built in 3-12 weeks (once we get all your content).

The longest we’ve ever taken on a website was just under 11 months–because the client, a high-end home builder wanted to be heavily involved in his project, but didn’t have the time to do so.

The fastest was about 1-2 weeks for a project where our client really needed the site done quickly so he could rock the business world with his new offering at a trade show! (And rock it, he did!)

All things being equal, we’re excellent at getting in there and getting the job done.

We have done entire website redesigns on less than one paragraph of client input. (Our male clients are habitually prone to not giving much input… lol. And we love the creative license that comes along with it!)

That said, basically, the amount of time you spend on the project yourself will depend on how much you want to contribute. If you allow us to take care of the copywriting, the photo sourcing, and all other components like that, it’s likely you’ll spend far less than 5 hours total in gathering logins for us, looking things over and giving approvals. If you want to do some of these things yourself, then it will depend on both your skill-level and perfectionism-level as to how long it’ll take you…and only you can know what that would be.

You’ll find we like to make use of email and your project portal the most. We’ll pick up the phone if needed, but since we work remotely, it’s way easier to pretend there aren’t children’s voices or barking dogs in the background if we use email 🙂 We also do texting if that’s more up your alley.

We have the most cool project portal system and love putting it to use. You’ll find that we’ll add questionnaires there, you’ll have places to add content (i.e. text and/or photos) for various pages, and you can even sign project documents all in one handy place!

Yes. We design and build all our websites to work responsively across all screen sizes. We don’t charge extra for this feature because it’s imperative for success online no matter how large or small your business is.

We build every site in a way that is accessible to search engines in an effort to increase its chances of ranking well, but we cannot guarantee any improvement to a search engine ranking, nor can we promise to get a site higher up or to the top of Google.

If you need comprehensive and monthly SEO support, we can connect you with a couple marketing agency’s that do brilliant work. They’ve got trick up their sleeves that are refreshingly transparent, but equally brilliant. We don’t guarantee any results from their marketing services, but we’d be really surprised if you weren’t seriously impressed.

Yes, we actually do get this question. And the answer varies!

If you already have more business than you can handle without a website, then you might be fine without one for now.

If your business is just starting out and you’re not certain about the ROI (return on investment) of a site, it might be good to pursue other business set-up items first.

But if your business is established, you can basically bank on 80%+ of potential clients looking for you online first. And since studies show that 94% of website visitors judge a company by the visual aspect of their website, making a great impression is imperative.

How long does it take to make a first impression? Studies say that when someone views your website, in just 1/20th of a second, they’ve decided (unconsciously) whether they’re gonna stick around and learn more, or push the back button.

So the answer to your question is….it just depends. We’re totally happy to talk with you about your unique situation and give you our experienced, not-salesy, transparent opinion.

It might seem a little strange that we specifically work only with decision makers on our website projects. We don’t work exclusively with marketing directors, IT techs, in-house designers, or any other job position in a company unless the person in that position has full authority to make all the decisions regarding the project.

It’s not that we have anything against anyone in any of these other places in the company, and sometimes they can give good input, but in order to build a website that best represents YOU, it works best for us to work directly with the “top” in the chain of command.

Why? Well, we’ve worked with a number of clients over the years and invariably, it’s the decision makers themselves that know what they want and who they’re trying to reach as their clientele. Since a stress-free website project experience depends heavily on us stepping into your shoes, it’s imperative that we get that right.

Hosting & Domains

It’s far easier for us to support you after your website is done if you allow us to host the site for you inside our reseller hosting account. This allows you to have your own cPanel (great for security and control), but also allows us quick and easy access for support issues! You can learn more about this on our maintenance/hosting page.

We love GoDaddy for domain registration. (We love NameCheap.com even better.) But that’s where we draw the line with them. Our experience is that their hosting is an exercise in frustration and “forced” upgrades, so we’ve become a zero-GoDaddy-hosting agency. That means that if you want to host at GoDaddy, we’ll build the site for you and then give you migration access. You can then have GoDaddy techs or someone else migrate the site there and do hosting-side support.

Yes, totally. We build websites on WordPress and inside a framework that makes them easier to update than most. This means you should, with a little virtual training session, be able to change out a photo or add some content without hiring us to do it for you. If you can work with MS Word or OS Pages or similar software, your technical abilities tell us that you should be able to update your website yourself.

The Investment

Our website packages generally range from $5k–$24k. However, the investment you’ll make depends on what your business needs in order to easily attract the clients you love to serve.

Domain name (your URL): $10-$15 per year
Hosting (where your site lives online): $3-50 per month
Site Maintenance: do it yourself or us starting at $49 per month

We believe if you’re investing in the first impressions people have of you, those impressions shouldn’t be shaped by a clock.

So your investment is in-line with the quality of results that we expect from ourselves and can’t help but deliver to you.

While we all like a great deal, we believe that your business website is an investment that we must take seriously. This isn’t about price comparison. It’s about connecting with minds and hearts to get results. And it takes worlds more than raw technical skill to do that.

Yep. Some people wonder that too. Everything we build for our clients is custom, because we’re all about crafting a website that allows your people to fall in love with you. We can spend hours and hours selecting just the right photograph to represent a thought. There’s nothing inherently fast or easy about what we do. We’re cheaper than many larger agencies because:

  1. We work remotely and don’t have the ginormous overhead that many awesome agencies have to account for. (We certainly wouldn’t mind fancier quarters, but…)
  2. We limit the number of projects we take on each quarter. Yes, this actually does allow our pricing to be less because we’re not covering paychecks for lots of extraneous positions (admin, sales, accounting, janitorial, various levels of technical staff, etc.). It’s just us and we do nearly everything ourselves.

We’ll actually discuss this when we talk about your project, but generally there are a couple options. We can do 100% upfront, or split it into two or three installments over 30-60 days as works best for your budgeting needs. Invoices will be sent to your email and can be paid online or by check.

We accept debit and credit cards, e-checks, real checks, and PayPal. Interestingly, most clients still chose to pay by mailing real old-fashioned checks.

We don’t personally, but we do work with the PayPal program that offers 0% interest if paid in full in 6 months when you check out with PayPal and chose the PayPal credit option. (Of course, this is subject to their program policies.)

We do! Graphic design is Tamalyn’s heaven. Business cards, flyers, brochures, posters–you name it and we’ve probably done it. Check out some of our work in the graphic design porfolio.

Yep! There are several in our portfolio you can check out here.

Absolutely. Kama & Tamalyn’d almost rather come up with creative copy and eye-catching design for successful ads than eat chocolate, and that’s saying a lot! See some of our work on the graphic design page here.
