I’m currently rereading the chapter on persistence in Napoleon Hill’s book, Think & Grow Rich. It’s got me thinking again about the difference between those that we look up to and those that we know nothing about.
The differences with the ones we know about are that they’ve done something. They’ve persisted at their goal long enough to make it happen.
When we run into resistance, it can be so tempting to give up. But persistence is what allows us to push through the resistance. Of course, I’m not suggesting that you keep banging your head on the same wall if a certain approach isn’t working.
We have a more modern term called pivot which means we consider other approaches to solving the problem, overcoming the obstacle or breaking through the resistance. The point of persistence is that we don’t stop working on our goals.
Is there something in your life that’s got you thinking about giving up? Remember persistence is the key. Behind that persistence, you do need to have desire, as Napoleon Hill says. A desire to pursue whatever goal you’re after.
“Riches do not respond to wishes. They respond only to definite plans, backed by definite desires, through constant PERSISTENCE.” – Napoleon Hill
If you feel that being more persistent could help you out, I suggest reading the chapter on persistence in the book, Think & Grow Rich.
